Description

IXM devices can be deployed in a full Access Control installation and include direct connections to any Access Control Panel. The Wiegand protocol is the technology used for communication between IXM devices and Access Control Panels. The Wiegand interface involves 3 hard wires: DATA0, DATA1 and common ground. IXM devices send out a Wiegand signal via these 3 wires to the Panel to report the status of the authentication attempt. The Wiegand Output signal can be configured for a general or event based output.

Setting up Wiegand Output requires the following:

  1. Hard wire connections to the Wiring Harness of the IXM device.
  2. Configuration of the Wiegand Output settings for general or event based parameters in IXM WEB.

Hard Wire Connections

The Wiegand Output connections are highlighted below and can be located from the Bottom Connector of the Wiring Harness of the IXM device. The corresponding wiegand inputs to an Access Control Panel should be connected to these wires.

INVIXIUM recommends the use of the all ground wires.

Configuring Wiegand Output in IXM WEB

1. From Home screen go to CONFIG tile >> Wiegand app to view default settings.

2. Activate the Wiegand Output settings by toggling “Output” to ON.

3. The list of settings along with their functions are outlined below:

  • Wiegand ID Type and Duress: Unique ID is provided to each Wiegand format. Select either User ID or Prox Card ID. Upon a duress authentication event, the selected Duress option will be sent over Wiegand output lines.
  • Identification Success: Upon a successful identification, the IXM device will create a Wiegand string based on the selected Wiegand format. User ID/Prox card ID/Smart ID card will be used as Wiegand ID. This Wiegand string will be sent over Wiegand output lines. Select any predefined Wiegand format for the Identification Success event.
  • Identification Fail: Upon a failed identification, the IXM device will create a Wiegand string based on the selected Wiegand format, which will be sent over Wiegand output lines. Select any predefined Wiegand format for the Identification Fail event.
  • Verification Success: Upon a successful verification, the device will create a Wiegand string based on the selected Wiegand format. User ID/Prox card ID/Smart ID card will be used as Wiegand ID. This Wiegand string will be sent over Wiegand output lines. Select any predefined Wiegand format for the Verification Success event.
  • Verification Fail: Upon a failed verification, the device will create a Wiegand string based on the selected Wiegand format. User ID/Prox card ID/Smart ID card value will be used as Wiegand ID. This Wiegand string will be sent over Wiegand output lines. Select any predefined Wiegand format for Verification Fail event.
  • Anti-Shock Format and ID Value: Upon an anti-shock alarm event, the device will create a Wiegand string based on the selected Wiegand format. Device ID/Device Serial Number/ Device Name will be used as Wiegand ID. This Wiegand string will be sent over Wiegand output lines. The default format for anti-shock is “IXM 82 bits device S/N”. Select any predefined Wiegand format for the anti-shock event.
  • Heart Beat, ID Value and Interval: For a regular heart beat pulse, the device will create a Wiegand string based on the selected Wiegand format. Device ID/Device Serial Number/ Device Name will be used as Wiegand ID. This Wiegand string will be sent over Wiegand output lines and repeated based on the selected interval. Select any predefined Wiegand format for the Heart Beat event.
  • User Not Found Format: Upon a “User Not Found” event , the device will create a Wiegand string based on the selected Wiegand format. Entered User ID will be used as Wiegand ID. This Wiegand string will be sent over Wiegand output lines. Select any predefined Wiegand format for User Not Found event.

4. Once all the settings have been configured, click Apply to save the settings to the IXM Device. An “Output Wiegand saved” message will be displayed. Click OK.

5. To reset the Output Wiegand settings back to default, click Reset. Reconfirm the action by clicking on Reset. in the pop-up dialog. If “Cancel” option is selected, then no action will be taken.

6. The “Output Wiegand restored” message will be displayed. Click OK.
