Description

IXM devices come in model variants that are equipped with an internal Smart Card reader for the option of utilizing multi-factor authentication. Smart Cards are RFID access cards that have on-card memory to store biometric data.

Understanding Smart Card Options:

1. Click SMART CARD tile >> Settings app to view default settings.

2. Key Management

  1. Manage Keys:
    1. Fill all the required options as displayed in the Manage Key Window and click Apply to save modified layout.
    2. It will redirect to selection of device to save modified Layout. Click on Apply, to save modified Layout on selected device(s).
    3. An Application Log will appear to display the status of success/failure.
  2. Key Security Settings:
    1. To update new keys automatically Toggle “Auto Update” to ON.
    2. To store key in an encrypted format Toggle “Key Encryption” to ON.
    3. For MiFARE card authentication, Key Type requires input of either secret KEY A or KEY B.
    4. Click Apply to save the modified layout.
    5. A “Smart Card Key Security settings saved” message will be displayed. Click OK.

3. CSN Order Type:

  1. IXM WEB allows user to select LSB or MSB values for bit and byte order for Card Serial Number.
  2. Make required changes to “CSB Byte Order” and “CSN Bit Order” and click Apply to save the modified layout.
  3. A “Smart Card Order saved” message will be displayed. Click OK.

4. iCLASS PACS

  1. By default IXM Device reads CSN from the card but it also allows reading PACS number from the card.
  2. To read the PACS number form the card Toggle Status of iCLASS PACS to ACTIVE.

5. Options:

  1. Different options on Smart Card can be performed as displayed in the window.
  2. Read Smart Card:
    1. Clicking on “Read” prompts a message on the screen for the user to present a Smart Card to the IXM device. Hold to read the record saved on the Smart Card.
  3. IXM device will read and display all records (by default only first section will be visible and users need to expand remaining sections to view the whole information).

6. Reset Smart Card:

  1. Click Reset to reset the Smart Card. Reconfirm the action by clicking on “Reset” in the pop-up dialog. If the “Cancel” option is selected, then no action will be taken.
  2. Clicking on “Reset” prompts a message on the screen for the user to present a Smart Card to the IXM device and hold to reset the card.
  3. A “Smart Card reset” message will be displayed. Click OK.

7. Format Smart Card:

  1. Click Format to format the card. Reconfirm the action by clicking on “Format” in the pop-up dialog. If “Cancel” option is selected, then no action will be taken.
  2. Clicking on “Format” prompts a message on the screen for the user to present a Smart Card to the IXM device. Hold to format the card.
  3. A “Smart Card formatted” message will be displayed. Click OK.

8. Secure Smart Card:

  1. Click Secure to secure the card.
  2. Clicking on “Secure” prompts a message on the screen for the user to present a Smart Card to the IXM device. Hold to secure the card.
  3. A “Smart Card secured” message will be displayed. Click OK.
