Spot-r Named a Top IoT Solution for Construction Safety and Operations
Invixium’s Spot-r platform has been recognized as one of the leading IoT solutions transforming the construction industry, earning the #2 position in Construction Digital Magazine’s list of the “Top 10 IoT Devices for Construction”.
It is a significant recognition for a technology built to address one of the construction industry’s biggest challenges: gaining a clear, real-time understanding of what is happening across a complex and constantly changing worksite. As construction sites become increasingly connected, the ability to capture, analyze, and act on real-time data is changing how projects are managed. Spot-r’s position at #2 places the platform among the solutions being recognized for their role in advancing digitalization of the construction industry.
Designed for modern worksites, Spot-r is a cloud-based non-GPS platform featuring a proprietary and scalable mesh network, wearable tags, and actionable dashboards. The solution utilizes worker tags to collect and transmit data to the platform, delivering near real-time visibility, enhanced safety, and data-driven decision-making. Spot-r can help teams digitally manage evacuation and mustering, with the ability to help workers evacuate and muster at assembly points. Our RTLS solutions enable industrial worksites to muster thousands of workers in under 15 minutes, depending on the size and scale of the facility. Beyond emergency response, the platform has demonstrated the potential to drive measurable operational improvements, including a 10% increase in productivity, while helping organizations identify opportunities to better utilize their fleets and potentially return 30% of budgets tied to underutilized fleets.
Key Capabilities and Benefits
Cloud-Based and On-Premises Deployment
Organizations can choose the deployment model that best fits their operational and security requirements. Spot-r is available as both a cloud-based and on-premises solution, giving businesses flexibility in how they manage and access their site data.
Fast Installation with an Independent Mesh Network
Construction sites are rarely static, and technology deployed on them needs to be practical. Spot-r can be installed quickly and operates on an independent mesh network, reducing reliance on existing internal IT infrastructure and making it easier to deploy across active worksites.
Real-Time Location in Three Views
Knowing where people and equipment are can be critical when managing a large or multi-level construction project. Spot-r provides real-time location visibility in three modes: Blueprint, Map, and Building, helping teams view site activity in the format that makes the most sense for the task at hand. This visibility can also support safety initiatives, with Spot-r helping organizations achieve a 60% reduction in injury claim rates by providing greater insight into worker activity and site conditions.
Single Sign-On for Easier Access
Spot-r supports Single Sign-On (SSO), allowing organizations to integrate access into their existing identity and authentication environment. This simplifies user management while helping teams get the right people connected to the platform.
Interactive Dashboards and Analytics
Raw data is only useful when it can be understood and acted upon. Spot-r’s interactive dashboards turn site data into practical insights, helping teams monitor activity, identify trends, and make informed decisions based on what is happening across the worksite.
Secure, Encrypted Communication
Construction data can be operationally sensitive, particularly when it involves worker activity and site operations. Spot-r uses encrypted communication to help protect data as it moves through the system and support a secure connected environment.
Custom Reporting
Every organization has different operational priorities and reporting requirements. Spot-r supports custom reporting, allowing teams to access the information they need to evaluate site activity, review trends, and support ongoing safety and operational initiatives. By bringing these insights together, teams can also reduce the time required to respond to safety events, with reported improvements of up to 70% in time to safety.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the top questions our customers frequently ask us about our Worker Safety and Tracking solution, and are often surprised by the value our solution delivers.
1. How accurate is the location tracking?
Any tag that is within the mesh network can be tracked with up to 5 meters of accuracy.
2. How does the solution help with mustering?
Every tag on the site gives an audio alert to the worker when an “Evacuate Site” command is sent from the Spot-r platform. When this audio alert occurs, workers are trained and expected to evacuate to “Mustering Points.” Using the Spot-r software, our solution can easily count how many people are at the muster point, how many workers were on site during the evacuation, and where any missing workers are.
3. How much time did my contractors spend at the workplace compared to the schedule?
The Spot-r platform knows as soon as a person is on site and when they have left the site. Using this data, it is easy to calculate the time contractors spent at the workplace against the planned schedule.
4. Do I have a way of validating the invoice I received from my rental equipment provider? And do I have metrics for utilization rates by equipment class?
Yes. Equipment tags can help monitor how much heavy equipment was utilized on the site every month. Every time the machine or equipment turns on, its vibrations trigger the tags to send data to the Spot-r platform. Using this data, it is easy to calculate and report on the actual usage of equipment and compare it with the invoice received from the equipment provider.
5. Are there privacy concerns around the tracking solution? Will workers be tracked once they leave the site?
Invixium’s Worker Safety and Tracking solution does not use GPS for tracking. Our solution uses proprietary sub-Gigahertz frequencies. The tracking network is created over a designated area using Gateways and Relays. If a person or piece of equipment leaves this area, the system will not be able to track them.
